New Porsche 911 GT4 For 2012
After three successful seasons with the Porsche 911 in GT4, including 2 championship wins in the highly competitive Dutch GT4 Championship, the 2012 season will see the arrival of a new and improved Porsche 911 GT4 race car. Together with the SRO organisation and with approval by Porsche Motorsport a new concept has been developed by GT3.nl which is a step forward in performance, reliability, safety and cost.
Similar to the original 911 GT4 a conversion system is used whereby owners can build their own car, this time starting from the widely available ’07, ’08 and ’09 Porsche Carrera Cup and Supercup cars. “GT4 has evolved since 2008 when we homologated our previous car and most cars are now real racing cars instead of converted road cars”, says Paul van Splunteren of Porsche Centre Eindhoven / GT3.nl. “Our previous car was definitely the latter, so it was time for an update. Together with SRO we came up with a solution which ticks all the right boxes”.
“These cup cars are not only much stronger, safer and easier to work on, but because we will actually bring performance levels down to GT4 specifications they will also be stressed less than they were designed for, improving reliability. And with the amount of cars on offer today a suitable car can be sourced for very attractive prices, spares can be bought through regular Porsche (Motorsport) channels and even with the necessary GT3.nl conversion kit it is still one of the cheapest GT4 cars out there”, concludes Van Splunteren.
Specific GT3.nl conversion kits are now under development to bring all available versions of the Cup car back to one homologated GT4 specification.
